Texas Longhorn Cattle
There's something majestic about the Texas Longhorn. Perhaps it's the history and legend of the Texas Longhorn in the wild west, or maybe it's just the almost elegant way they seem to effortlessly carry the giant horns.
To the delight of young and old, we have a small herd of registered Texas Longhorns here on our farm in St. Mary's County, Maryland. They are raised for breeding stock, and for beef, in the pasture. Our cattle are grain-fed, and given no hormones or antibiotics.
If you are not familiar with Texas Longhorn beef, it is leaner than that of other breeds, but still tender and delicious. Flavorful Longhorn beef is lower in saturated fats, and actually has less cholesterol and calories than chicken.
Beef is the number one source of protein, zinc and Vitamin B12, and the third best source of iron in the food supply. You would have to eat 7 chicken breasts to get the equivalent amount of Vitamin B12 in one, 3 oz. serving of beef. (Texas Longhorn Breeders Assoc.)
